Mango’s Dockside Bistro

Mango’s Dockside Bistro is the inspiration for the restaurant where Grace, her sister and daughters meet most Saturdays at noon.

I first met Chef Annie, who runs the restaurant (along with  daughter, Lauren) on-line over fifteen years ago. Back then she owned The Chef’s Express in Olde Marco, a smaller restaurant and catering business.

Since Grace and her girls have been going to Mango’s for over ten years, I’ve had to use a little poetic license throughout the book. In reality, the restaurant first opened its doors in 2012.

mangosdocksideSituated on The Esplanade overlooking Smokehouse Bay in Marco Island, Chef Annie took most of her menu and recipes with her – mouth watering meals you’ll also find mentioned several times in the book. The décor is similar to the original Chef’s Express – brightly colored umbrellas in burnt orange, reds, blues, yellows and greens. I’ve always loved the tropical décor and the addition of water features and huge fish tanks have further enhanced the fun, family atmosphere.

Thank you so much, Annie, for allowing me to use the name and, more importantly, thank you for the inspiration!
